Groundwork Bridgend & Neath Port Talbot was formed in 1989 as Ogwr Groundwork Trust. We have developed a wide-ranging portfolio of projects that have been influential in the regeneration of some of the most deprived areas of the South Wales valleys. We have established ourselves as a key regeneration partner not only in Bridgend, but also since 2001, in the County Borough of Neath Port Talbot.
Our main offices are currently in Bridgend at Parc Tondu, a Victorian Ironworks that we reclaimed and refurbished as part of the Changing Places programme. The 4.7 Ha site is open to the public and is well used by the local community, incorporating a cycle track, BMX track and education and resource centre. The Trust also has an office in Neath Port Talbot and a number of project related satellite offices including YouthWorks in Wildmill and the Betws LIFE Centre, both in Bridgend.
Working in partnership with local communities and the public, private and voluntary sectors, we have built a reputation for developing and delivering high quality projects. The Trust has three core business units, Community Regeneration, Environmental Regeneration and Sustainable Regeneration. Within each business unit the Trust has developed several programmes including Environmental Action, YouthWorks, Healthy Living, the Intermediate Labour Market, Green Tourism, Landscape Design, Environmental Business Services and Energy.
Since its formation, our Trust has grown significantly, with a range of professional staff including community officers, youth workers, education officers, environmental artists, landscape architects, environmental business advisors, energy specialists and training and employment co-ordinators. Bringing together the skills and experience of these staff enables the Trust to develop and implement innovative and relevant projects that effectively address the needs of the communities that we work with.
